As a result of the recent merger of Intellident (UK) into the bibliotheca Group, the most popular self-service system in England, smartServe™ 400, will be one of the highlights in bibliotheca's product portfolio and available throughout the world from January 2012.

With a tall, narrow format and sleek, modern design, smartServe™ 400 has been designed from the ground-up to provide maximum impact in the library and gain customer use from the day it is installed. Customers simply love the units and the way in which they work in their libraries. In the University Library in Huddersfield they were especially keen on the modern look of the units: "We wanted self-check devices which would fit in perfectly with the style of our contemporary space and that the students would find attractive. We deliberately chose machines in different colours and placed them close together in a row to emphasise the resemblance to the popular consumer technology," says Paula Clover.

With a large intuitive user interface, LED lighting and innovative RFID reading zone, operating the machine is simply child's play. And naturally, smartServe™ 400 offers the full range of familiar self-service functions: lending, returns and a separate account and fine management system with an overview of when reserved items are ready to be collected.

To-date, the Group has already provided more than 1,200 devices into the UK, France and the Netherlands, with over 90% of the self-checkout machines including the optional payment station, which allows the library to offer card payment or coins or notes can be fed in with change supplied.

Already tested and certified (where necessary) with all major LMS/ILS systems, smartServe™ 400 is a reliable and efficient self-service unit that is embraced by customers and librarians alike. Recognising that no two libraries are the same, smartServe™ 400 is available in a range of colours and custom print options to suit any environment and can also be supplied with an optional convenience shelf.
