Fayetteville Public Library presented with award for busiest self-service kiosk in North America

Last year, more than half a million items were checked out from Fayetteville Public Library using their self-service kiosks – more than 300,000 thousand of them through one kiosk called “Artois.”

The Arkansas library, with a total yearly item circulation of more than one million items, sees slightly more than half of these items checked out using their eight self-service kiosks, making the check out process quick and easy for their patrons.

Their kiosk, nicknamed “Artois,” that is located in the common area near the circulation desk sees the majority of their self-service usage. This makes “Artois” the busiest self-service kiosk in North America for 2014, with the second busiest self-service kiosk on the continent checking out roughly 190,000 items.

bibliotheca awarded the Fayetteville Public Library (FPL) this recognition on Tuesday, January 6th in an on-site ceremony. bibliotheca will also be recognizing the busiest self-service kiosk in Europe later this month.

"We are committed to giving our patrons a great library experience. We understand our patrons lead busy lives and the self-checkouts can help make their library trip quick and easy." commented David Johnson, FPL Executive Director.

“The Fayetteville Public Library is a dynamic library that is focused on delivering great patron experiences. As libraries aim to enhance their public service offerings, it is great to see how our self-service systems contribute to this important library mission. We are happy to partner with FPL to meet its self-service goals as they continue to make a positive impact on their local community.” said Al Coalla, President of bibliotheca North America.
