Collier County Public Library becomes first library customer to benefit from bibliotheca and Innovative integrated partnership

Collier County Public Library in Florida will be the first Innovative Interfaces customer that will benefit from the strategic alliance between bibliotheca, the leading supplier of RFID and barcode-based technologies, and Innovative Interfaces, the leader in library platform solutions, after the two companies announced a partnership last month that will see them provide library customers with integrated solutions to further enhance library operations.

Collier County, an already existing customer of Innovative through its use of the Sierra Services Platform, commissioned bibliotheca directly to undertake a two-phase project that will enable the library system to fully convert its branches and entire collection to RFID technology. Under the project, Collier County will tag (convert) its collection using a selection of RFID tags from bibliotheca and will install a range of bibliotheca products including self-service kiosks, security gates and handheld inventory devices.

Over 30 self-service kiosks will be deployed as part of the implementation, including a number of bibliotheca’s smartserve™ 400 kiosks and 16 of the company’s latest kiosk offering – the smartserve™ 1000 - both of which offer patrons the ability to check items in and out, manage account functionality and pay for fees and fines using a range of different payment methods. The project will also see bibliotheca’s smartgate™ 400 security gates installed across a number of Collier County’s libraries, together with a number of bibliotheca’s smartstock™ 300 mobile circ devices – a solution which offers libraries the ability to check items in and out anywhere within the library building. All products will be optimized for use with Innovative Interfaces Sierra platform.

bibliotheca and Innovative announced in March 2014 that they would be joining forces to integrate Innovative’s library solutions with bibliotheca’s RFID and barcode systems in order to streamline the overall self-service experience and add-value to library customers and their users. The library system will be the first customer to experience the benefits from the alliance, including seamless software integration to allow for faster transactions and a speedier self-service experience for patrons.
