SirsiDynix and bibliotheca are pleased to announce the first of many areas of innovation where the companies have joined forces to deliver the best possible experience to libraries, librarians and, most importantly, the patron.
In 2013, SirsiDynix and bibliotheca announced an intent to reaffirm their strategic relationship, with a focus on securing new customers and delivering outstanding service to both new and existing customers alike. At that time, the two organizations additionally committed to align their development activities in order to offer libraries an unparalleled level of choice, value and integration between their two systems. Today, SirsiDynix and bibliotheca announce the latest series of products to be released as a result of this dedicated relationship.
With the launch of bibliotheca’s new kiosk software (liber8:interactive™), patron digital eBook platform (Opus™), online gateway (liber8:portal™) and a brand new in-library discovery terminal (smartterminal™ 100), customers of bibliotheca and SirsiDynix will now have unprecedented access to a range of features exclusive to customers of SirsiDynix and bibliotheca. These features include: direct integration between Opus™ and eResource Central®, allowing patrons to view the full range of eBooks available via Opus™ in one place and access physical book metadata (OPAC type searching) via the smartterminal™ 100 discovery kiosk. Secondly, data collected from bibliotheca kiosks and security gates will be available directly within the SirsiDynix statistical analysis tool BLUEcloud ® Analytics – allowing librarians to evaluate their technology resource data in one location within one interface. Additionally, bibliotheca has integrated brand new membership API functionality into the smartterminal™ 100 discovery terminal, allowing patrons to self-register and join the library at a kiosk and, once joined, update their contact and profile information in real-time.
All of these features will be available exclusively to bibliotheca and SirsiDynix customers later this year.
Eric Keith, Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Alliances for SirsiDynix commented, “bibliotheca is one of only two premium-level strategic partners that we have at SirsiDynix, meaning that our organization commits to aligning roadmaps and releasing dedicated products that directly benefit our joint customers. In a world whereby a lot of companies ‘talk’ about their intentions, we believe it’s important to let our products do the talking, and we could not be more delighted with what we have been able to achieve in such a small period of time.”
Jim Hopwood, Managing Director of bibliotheca Group added, “bibliotheca has a proud heritage of product innovation, which will continue to be the backbone of our organisation and market offer. Today, we are excited to be releasing brand new products with functionality that simply wouldn’t be achievable without the development teams of these two organizations working so closely together. It’s great to see tangible output today, but we’re also excited about what the future holds”.
