In the spirit of National Libraries Day 2016, bibliotheca has launched a Grant Application Scheme, giving UK libraries the chance to win one of three £1000 grants to fund creative community outreach projects to celebrate National Libraries Day 2016, which falls on Saturday 6 February. The move comes as part of the company’s continued commitment to libraries to help them gain more momentum and reinforce their importance within their communities.
Darren Ratcliffe, UK Managing Director comments “National Libraries Day is the ideal opportunity for libraries to reach out beyond their four walls to engage with their community members and attract more members. We recognise that funding makes a significant difference when planning an extraordinary event, which is why we have launched the Grant Application Scheme to give the most inspiring celebration ideas the chance to become a reality.”
Libraries can submit their applications by visiting www.bibliotheca.com/NLD16 and telling bibliotheca how they would use the funds to support their National Libraries Day 2016 celebrations. Entrants are also encouraged to support their applications by getting their ideas noticed on Facebook and Twitter by sharing their comments, videos and/or photographs, mentioning bibliotheca’s social media ID @smartlibraries and the National Libraries Day 2016 hashtag #librariesday. Applications must be received by 4pm on Friday 18 December 2016.
The applications will be shortlisted by bibliotheca staff and announced on Facebook on Tuesday 22 December 2015. The finalists will be the libraries that submit the most creative ‘outside the box’ ideas to raise the profile of their libraries and make a positive impact within their communities. The three projects that receive the most likes before 12pm on Monday 4 January 2016 will be the winners and can begin putting their plans into action. We look forward to seeing many creative and inspiring ideas to help promote libraries across the United Kingdom!
