Library technology leader bibliotheca will be highlighting their award-winning technology solutions, liber8:interactive™ self-service software, and forward-thinking payment security options at this year’s American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter conference in Chicago.
On the tails of four awards granted by LibraryWorks, Inc.’s inaugural Modern Library Awards (MLAs) for best products, bibliotheca will be showcasing their new liber8:interactive™ self-service software, as well as advanced payment security at this year’s ALA Midwinter conference, being held in Chicago from January 30th to February 2nd.
“This is a really exciting time for us,” says Al Coalla, bibliotheca’s President of North America. “We’re honored to have received four Gold awards from the MLAs, particularly because these awards are voted on by the true experts in library circulation, librarians.”
bibliotheca was presented with Gold awards for it’s self-service return and sorting solutions, self-service kiosk software liber8, smartserve™ 1000 RFID self-checkout kiosk, and smartlocker™ dispensing and collection solution, which provides 24/7 collections and returns that can be placed in any internal building throughout a library’s local community.
“We’re thrilled to receive the first MLA awards, but our aim is to keep enhancing the self-service experience for our customers and their patrons,” continues Al, “which is why we’re excited to feature our latest innovations in software, liber8:interactive™ patron facing software for the first time on the ALA Midwinter exhibit floor. Our Product Management and Software teams have been working with customers on this new upgrade to make sure it will be relevant for their patrons and deliver a more intuitive, cutting edge and meaningful self-service experience. ”
liber8:interactive™, with it’s extremely easy-to-use, tile-based interface and clean design, seamlessly allows patrons to borrow and return library materials, view full item details, as needed, and customize their self-service experience with a linked social media profile image, preferred language setting and a “remember me” option. Patrons can view a visual itemized list of charges to be paid and receive a record of all transactions via printed receipt, email, or SMS message. Depending on ILS/LMS provider, patrons can check the status of a reservation or hold at the kiosk, as well as receive an alert via SMS message or email once the item is available.
While bibliotheca has been providing this functionality in the UK for more than 5 years, they have now established partnerships in the US that allow the company to provide reader reviews on their kiosks, helping patrons find their next book while keeping your circulation flowing. Integrated with EBSCO, Goodreads, and BDS UK, and using a 5-star system, patrons can quickly see reviews at the kiosk. When returning items, libraries can take advantage of gathering critical data such as star rating and the amount of the book that was actually read by the patron.
Libraries can customize what is shown in the interactive, ADA/DDA compliant tile-based interface, with tiles that grow and shrink based on content. The software can integrate with Twitter or other RSS feeds to promote library announcements and events directly to patrons on the kiosk “home screen” without the need for any “new” systems.
In addition to showcasing their exciting new software, bibliotheca staff will be available to talk about the upcoming advanced security payment acceptance standards coming to the US this year, known as Chip & Pin. The bibliotheca self-service payment solutions are ready for these increased regulations, so your library can avoid risks and accept worry-free payments from patrons.
With more than 15 years of experience exhibiting at ALA conferences, bibliotheca will be welcoming long-standing clients, as well as any library interested in the most advanced self-service solutions, to booth #2026.
