bibliotheca and NoveList put libraries in the mood
bibliotheca and NoveList join forces to deliver the unique human-created content of the NoveList platform direct to patrons via bibliotheca self-service and discovery kiosks.
bibliotheca and NoveList are pleased to announce a unique partnership that for the first time puts a wide range of NoveList features directly into the hand of patrons via the bibliotheca interactive kiosk products.
The first joint development brings the power of the human-curated appeals lists directly to patrons via the new smartterminal™ 100 discovery kiosk. Appeals simplifies the broad descriptions of the millions of titles within the NoveList catalogue down to core keywords that have been allocated by the NoveList curators. This keyword allocation allows patrons to discover new content by simply selecting one or more ‘moods’ that they are in – for example: “serious,” “inspiring” and “upbeat”. bibliotheca is now bringing this functionality directly to the discovery terminal, allowing patrons to approach the touch-screen and select one or more moods before being immediately presented with recommended reads and reviews for titles within their library that match their criteria.
Duncan Smith, Vice President of NoveList commented: “At NoveList our dedicated team works extremely hard every day to ensure that our catalogue information is the best it can be, and appeal epitomizes the level of detail we go into to help libraries curate their collections. Having this toolset available to patrons in the library via the bibliotheca discovery terminals is a fantastic way for libraries to showcase their collections and, more importantly, for patrons to discover titles and authors that they may not have previously been exposed to.”
Secondly, bibliotheca is bringing the power of LibraryAware promotions to its full range of kiosks and terminals. Taking advantage of the unique interactive tiles of the new liber8:interactive™ self-service software, campaigns generated using LibraryAware can now be pushed to every kiosk within a library estate at the click of button.
Andy Chadbourne, President of Global Marketing added: “We couldn’t be more pleased to have established what we believe to be a long-term relationship with the people at NoveList, a team with whom we have huge similarities in our desires to deliver the best possible products and services to libraries. In releasing our first two developments together, we are collectively helping to promote both the collection and the services of libraries to patrons – what could be more important than that? What’s most exciting for us though is that we are only scratching the surface in terms of what we can collectively offer – it’s a hugely exciting time for both companies.”
The NoveList features will be an intrinsic part of the new liber8:interactive™ platform that is being previewed at the ALA Annual Conference and will be available to bibliotheca customers later this year.
