bibliotheca Adds to Sales Team, Brings Industry Expertise

The global leader in library self-service solutions adds new team members to sales team by hiring two new Business Development Managers, bringing a combined 30+ years of experience in the library industry to the local team.

Adding to its qualified sales team, bibliotheca has recently hired two new Business Development Managers - Amber Thompson, who will be working with libraries in the Northeast region of the United States, and Doug Potts, who will be working with libraries in the Northwest.

Amber, originally from South Carolina with a degree in English from Clemson University, joined bibliotheca three years ago starting as a Bid Writer. In August 2014, she transitioned to the Project Management team. “As a Project Manager, I was able to work closely with our customers as they began the implementation process. This allowed me to quickly understand our customers’ needs and how important our solutions were to their end users. I was able to best address a library’s needs and determine exactly how our solutions needed to be configured to work best with their ILS,” says Amber. She worked closely with customers on installations and rollouts, and therefore has a thorough understanding of the entire process, from the initial inquiry to implementing a fully functional, smoothly-running system and supporting a library’s automation and self-service goals.

“Through the Project Management process, I was able to learn the “ins and outs” of how our solutions worked and make sure our customers were provided with the best training and resources to ensure their long term success.” Amber is excited to be working in the Northeast territory, and looking forward to working with our customers and helping libraries become more efficient and automated by using bibliotheca self-service solutions.

Doug, who lives in Dublin, Ohio, holds an undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He started his career with a company that later became LexisNexis, first as a trainer in law firm libraries, then as a sales associate for law and accounting libraries. He then switched to OCLC, where he worked as a National Account Manager and worked with their distribution partners. Most recently, he worked for Innovative Interfaces (III), a bibliotheca partner company, where he managed their customer sales team.

Both Doug and Amber express a passion to not only build strong relationships with existing customers and help bring solutions to new libraries, but to also help libraries provide the best possible solutions to their patrons.
