biblio+

August 11, 2022; Oakdale, MN:
biblio+, Bibliotheca’s streaming video service, announced today a partnership with the BBC that will bring thousands of hours of top British television and film to the platform for unlimited viewing by library patrons

“At biblio+, we are building a content offering specifically designed to delight customers and public library patrons. We are thrilled to partner with BBC to offer an expansive selection of popular programming and exciting discoveries for patrons to binge without worrying they’ll use their monthly play credits,” says Blandine Mercier-McGovern, Director of Content Strategy, Acquisition & Content Insights for the biblio+ platform. “This partnership brings tremendous value to customers looking to offer unlimited access to increasingly budget-conscious patrons in these challenging times.”

There is a sustained appetite for British content among North American viewers. This partnership with Britain’s largest production and distribution group will offer participating biblio+ and cloudLibrary customers access to such notable titles as Call the Midwife, DCI Banks, and Death in Paradise, as well as a large catalog of iconic children’s programming, including Horrible Histories and Hey Duggee.

“At the heart of BBC Learning is a mission to use industry-leading storytelling to educate people worldwide. We look to establish partnerships with organizations that are aligned with our goals and are leading the market,” says Kara Iaconis, Global Head of BBC Learning. “Bibliotheca has demonstrated its ability to do just that, and we are excited that this new partnership will provide 3,000 episodes from compelling series that both educate and entertain.”

biblio+ combines a uniquely crafted collection of movies, television, and groundbreaking new videobook content with a pricing model that eliminates pay-per-use fees for libraries and monthly viewing limits for libraries. New BBC titles will be added to the growing biblio+ catalog weekly beginning in September 2022.
