Celebrating National Library Week  |  April 8th-14th, 2018
The theme of this year’s National Library Week is “Libraries Lead.” We couldn’t agree more! ALA encourages you to ask your patrons, “Where did the library lead you?” for a chance to win a $100 gift card and a copy of the Coretta Scott King Award-winning book by Misty Copeland, Firebird.

Speaking of prizes, we were thrilled to attend the 2018 Public Library Association conference in Philadelphia last month where we officially launched open+ in North America. To celebrate, we invited libraries to sign our interactive wall telling us how they would extend library access in their communities, and enter for a chance to win a book bike. Ocean County Library in New Jersey was our lucky winner!

Customer story: providing equitable access for rural communities with open+

Interested in learning more about open+?
open+ is a comprehensive system that allows libraries to provide more flexible hours, making the library more accessible to the community. Designed to complement staffed hours, open+ can be implemented in a number of different ways to meet various library service models.

Whether extending access to an entire library or only a section of it, providing full self-service resources or mainly a holds pick-up area, open+ allows libraries the flexibility to extend access in the way that best meets the needs of their community and space. There is no one-size-fits-all approach with this technology. Watch the introductory, community-focused explainer video to learn more!
