Bibliotheca introduces cloudLibrary upgrades at ALA 2018

Oakdale, Minnesota – June 19, 2018

bibliotheca will be introducing three exciting new upgrades for cloudLibrary modules at this summer’s ALA conference in New Orleans, June 22 – 25, 2018.

Launched in 2011, cloudLibrary has already helped thousands of libraries meet the evolving needs of their communities via innovative, engaging features such as digital patron registration, expansive pay-per-use offerings, integrated events and more. Now, cloudLibrary is integrating physical checkout into the app to evolve the self-service user experience.

With the new modules, library users can quickly and easily borrow physical library items from their mobile device, keep track of their borrowing history, favorite items, receive reminders, manage receipts and discover new digital content all within the cloudLibrary app. Not only can cloudLibrary combine a users’ physical and digital loan activities, but it also makes it easy for libraries to promote their upcoming events and deliver important information.

“We’re thrilled to extend the selfCheck experience beyond the walls of the library. We researched common pain points for library customers and created a solution that will enhance their overall experience when borrowing from the library. Our tech team has developed an interface that is beyond my highest expectations. We look forward to unveiling it at ALA in New Orleans,” says Tom Mercer, Director of Digital Products.

With so many new features and updates coming to cloudLibrary, we encourage attendees to stop by booth 1831 for a live demonstration from our cloudLibrary team. See how immediate, interactive receipts, helpful reminders, mobile checkout and more can benefit your self-service users.

Expand access with open+

On Saturday, June 23rd, bibliotheca will be hosting an open information session, Increase Library Hours + Extend Access with open+, and all are invited to attend.

The session, which takes place at 10:30 am in room 213 of the Morial Convention Center, will feature Nancy Schram, Director of Ventura County Library, who will share her library’s experience implementing open+ as their “Express Service.” With open+, they’ve extended open hours from 40 to 52 hours per week, increasing access by 30 percent.

Both Lance Werner, Director of Kent District Library, and winner of this year’s Librarian of the Year award, and Manya Shorr, Director of Fort Worth Library, will share the vision they have for their libraries’ future and how open+ can play an integral part of their service models.

“I am excited to partner with bibliotheca and share thoughts on how open+ can change the way libraries operate in the future. KDL has a philosophy that is so often repeated it’s practically a mantra: kindness, love and empathy. Using technology will never be able to replace these principles, it will only help us extend them wider and utilize our resources to the best of our abilities,” says Lance Werner, Director of Kent District Library.

Come prepared for lively conversations, expanded ideas on open access in libraries and truly unique applications of this flexible technology that is helping libraries worldwide meet their goals for increased access, outreach and service.

Visit us at booth 1831. We promise it will be exciting!
