Busan, South Korea \u2014 Bibliotheca will exhibit at the World Library and Information Congress 2026<\/a>, the annual gathering of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), from August 10 to 13 in Busan, South Korea. Attendees will find the company at Booth A02 in BEXCO, the city\u2019s main convention center. <\/span><\/p>

The 90th congress returns to South Korea for the first time in twenty years, since the 2006 edition in Seoul. Organisers expect more than 3,000 librarians, researchers, and policymakers from about 100 countries. The theme this year is Libraries Powering Transformation<\/i>. <\/span><\/p>

“IFLA is approaching its first century, and for more than 55 of those years, Bibliotheca has had the privilege of supporting libraries around the world,” said Matthew Bellamy, CEO at Bibliotheca. “This 90th congress arrives as libraries on every continent are widening access, taking down barriers, and finding new ways to include everyone.” <\/span><\/p>

Bibliotheca has worked with libraries since 1969, when it helped pioneer library security detection<\/a> and self-service checkout<\/a>. Today, through offices and partners in more than 100 countries and territories, the company covers those two fronts and everything that has grown around them: extended access beyond opening hours<\/a>, returns and sorting<\/a>, and the supplies <\/a>and management tools<\/a> that keep collections in order. In Busan, the booth will be hosted by the company\u2019s own Asia-Pacific team. <\/span><\/p>

The congress will also host the IFLA\/James Bennett Public Library of the Year Award 2026,<\/a> which honours the best new public libraries. Among the four finalists is Gateway Library<\/a> in Mesa, Arizona, part of Mesa Public Library in the American Southwest. <\/p>

The shortlist is familiar ground for Bibliotheca customers. In 2023, three of the four finalists<\/a>, in Spain, China, and Australia, ran the company’s technology, including the eventual winner, Barcelona’s Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez Library<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>

Gateway runs on Bibliotheca technology as well. Lockers <\/a>hold reserved books for pick-up at any hour. Sorting machines<\/a> route returns back to the shelves. Kiosks<\/a> handle checkout without a line at the desk. The branch is also piloting Romi, a robot that roams the floor, greets visitors in eight languages, and walks them to the book they came for. <\/span><\/p>

The winner will be announced during the congress. Through all four days, the Bibliotheca team will be at Booth A02, ready to talk about what each visitor\u2019s library needs next. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
