Using open+ to serve patrons during a renovation. Watch video.

Challenge
Hennepin County Library needed a way to offer its community access to library materials while undergoing a branch renovation.
Solution
The library used open+ to allow patrons to reserve and pick up materials, browse a small collection, and access free wifi while the branch was closed.
Result
Within the first four months, the Hennepin branch had roughly 450 patrons use the space every week, circulating 16,000 items during a time the library would have otherwise been unavailable.
While undergoing a branch renovation, Hennepin County Library worked with bibliotheca to offer patrons a unique, basic library experience instead of closing completely. Utilizing open+, patrons were still able to frequent their local branch, pick up holds and browse a small collection, all during the renovation.
“The dramatic increase in our circulation really drove our decision to convert to RFID and self-checkout,”

“The backend of quickConnect is amazing. We are absolutely in awe of how easy it is to customize the selfChecks. Whether we’re changing patron promotions or customizing language options, it’s so simple. It has nice big buttons, and it’s very attractive...."
