PRESS RELEASE
Lake Elmo, Minn. — Bibliotheca and Ubidus have signed an exclusive international distribution agreement for the Digital Book Kiosk, a device that projects multimedia content onto the pages of a physical book. The kiosk recently received the Most Innovative Demo Award at the 2026 IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Busan, South Korea.
“The Digital Book Kiosk puts digital content on the pages of a real book, and patrons understand how to use it the moment they open it. Adding it to our portfolio was an easy decision,” said Matthew Bellamy, CEO of Bibliotheca.
“We are a small company with big dreams. Partnering with Bibliotheca is an exciting opportunity and a great honor to bring DBK to libraries worldwide. Together, we hope to create a new, innovation-driven future for libraries,” said Seung Sik Yoon, CEO of Ubidus.
Digital Book Kiosks are installed at institutions across South Korea, including the National Museum of Korea, the National Library of Korea, the Cheongju Early Printing Museum, and Busan Metropolitan Simin Library. This year, Bibliotheca demonstrated the product at both the PLA Conference and the ALA Annual Conference.
What the Digital Book Kiosk does
The Digital Book Kiosk combines a physical book with a laser projector and built-in sensors. Images, video, text, and animation are projected onto the pages, so patrons read and navigate by turning pages rather than using a screen.
The technology works behind the scenes, changing the content as each page is turned. Libraries can load their own material in PowerPoint or PDF format, or subscribe to content through the Digital Book Store, which provides titles for use across their kiosks.
“What struck me is that patrons work it out for themselves. The pages are blank, so everything a patron sees is projected and can be interacted with. The DBK is installed in the National Museum of Korea and the National Library of Korea already, which is a clear endorsement of the product experience,” said Delaney Levey, Chief Product Officer at Bibliotheca.

Recognition in Busan
Seung Sik Yoon presented the Digital Book Kiosk during “Visualizing Art: Multimedia Transformations in Libraries,” an open session at IFLA WLIC 2026.
His demonstration, “Digital Book Kiosk – Bridging Analogue and Multimedia,” won the Most Innovative Demo Award in a vote by librarians attending the session. The award was presented by the IFLA Art Libraries Section and the IFLA Audiovisual and Multimedia Section.
“For us, the greatest reward in bringing a product to market is seeing a positive response from customers. Having librarians from around the world recognize the DBK at WLIC 2026 is a tremendous honor and a great source of pride for us,” said Yoon.
