Bibliotheca Introduces selfCheck 2500, a Compact Self-Service Kiosk for Libraries

Lake Elmo, MN — Bibliotheca has launched the selfCheck 2500, a new compact kiosk that streamlines borrowing, account management, and access to library services. Designed for institutions where space is limited and efficiency is paramount, the 2500 offers a full suite of self-service features in a sleek, small-footprint design.

“The selfCheck 2500 is designed to be fast, intuitive, and essential for libraries,” said Matthew Bellamy, President of Bibliotheca. “By leveraging our quickConnect interface, it provides an enriched self-checkout experience in a modern, space-efficient format, making it a practical choice for libraries looking to optimize service while conserving space.”

As the latest addition to Bibliotheca’s selfCheck portfolio, the 2500 brings a refined form and function to modern library environments. Its compact, modular hardware is suited for small or high-traffic library settings, while an anti-glare touchscreen improves screen readability across various lighting conditions. Together, these features support efficient, user-friendly access to core library services.

Beyond the patron experience, the kiosk is designed for long-term adaptability. Its modular design simplifies maintenance and paves the way for future upgrades, providing libraries with a system that can adjust to their changing demands.

Powered by Bibliotheca’s award-winning quickConnect software, the selfCheck 2500 supports more than 70 languages, text-to-speech functionality, and seamless integration with third-party tools—from payment processors to event management systems, printing services, and wayfinding displays. With a direct connection to the libraryConnect platform, staff can adjust configuration changes at the click of a button, making updates and maintenance as streamlined as the kiosk itself.

With roots tracing back to 1992, Bibliotheca has spent more than three decades refining library self-service technology. Over 20 product iterations later, these solutions are present on every continent. The selfCheck 2500 continues this legacy, joining a product family that includes the cloudCheck tablet for mobile checkouts and the fully customizable selfCheck 3000 for high-volume environments.

Debuting at ALA 2025 in Philadelphia

The selfCheck 2500 will make its debut at the American Library Association Annual Conference & Exhibition 2025, taking place June 26–30 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Attendees can visit Booth #1705 to explore the 2500 in person, interact with the quickConnect interface, and speak with product experts about how the new kiosk can support evolving library needs.
